Freecycle generates a lot of email. In order to make your freecycling sessions with PKF productive and easy you have to have a plan to handle all the mail.

You have a number of options as to how you view the mail. You can change the way you view the messages on the public list by using the "Edit My Membership" link that is over the green bar on all pages of the PKF yahoo groups web site. You have three choices:

  1. The default is individual emails. Getting all the mail is a good way to read the list but requires good organization, filtering and sorting. Having all the posts go to your email client will clog your inbox. Setting up a separate folder (email box) and then using a message word filter to move all email that has "[PKF]" in the subject line will keep the list mail out of your inbox.

Even without filtering you still can organize your inbox to easily read all the list mail. Many email clients have sort headers. The default is usually time received but clicking "subject" will sort all the list mail into one group for easy scanning and multiple select deleting of the ones you don't want to read leaving only the posts you might want to respond to.

  2. By choosing "daily digest" you will receive only one or two long emails a day with all the list mail. The disadvantage with digest is you don't get the mail as it is issued and may not be able to respond soon enough to many offers.

  3. By choosing the "special notices" option you will have you receive no list mail except administrative notices from the moderators about important list information. You can still read any of the regular list mail on the yahoo groups web site using the "messages" link. Posts in the message area are current and easily responded to right from the web site.
